Where do I get the shoes?

We provide the heels and YES, we have your size! After you check in, you’ll have the chance to select a pair of shoes that suit your style and personality.


Registration

Who can participate?

Everyone is welcome to participate! The event is meant to create the powerful image of men in heels, but women also play a huge role. Women can sign up to fundraise, coach their male co-horts, and walk on event day. Only participants who have fundraised prior to the event are eligible to walk.

How do I create or join a team?

Visit our registration section, and select if you’d like to register as an individual or a team.

Event Day

Where do we check in on the event day?

The check-in location on the event day will be clearly posted. Volunteers are also available to give directions and answer your questions.

What should I wear?

Many participants come during work, so wear your suit, uniform, or everyday attire. We love to see men pair their heels with their usual outfits. If you can find some snappy socks, even better — they help prevent blisters and look great!

Do I really walk a MILE in heels?

No. By registering for the event, you agree to walk in heels, but the distance isn’t actually a mile. There will be a marked route at our event site on Jasper Avenue and 104 Street.

What happens if it snows?

The event will take place rain, snow, or shine. Come prepared for any weather. This is Edmonton after all!

Donations

How do I make a donation?

You can donate to an individual, a team, or YWCA Edmonton. Search all participants and teams, or donate directly to YWCA Edmonton. Online donations are immediately applied to the directed individual or team, and you will receive an instant tax receipt to the email address you provide.

What if I have cash or cheque donations?

Cash or cheque donations are considered offline donations. Donors must complete the Offline Donation Form in order to receive a tax receipt. The form must be complete and legible.

Registered participants: Enter any offline cash and/or cheque donations through your Participant Centre so that these offline donations are reflected online in your total raised. Please bring your completed Offline Donation Form(s) with the cash or cheque donation(s) to the YWCA Edmonton office, or to the event. Please do not mail cash.

Where does my donation go?

Your donation directly supports YWCA Edmonton’s violence prevention and recovery programs, such as our Counselling Centre, which help move families who have experienced domestic violence from crisis to resiliency.

Am I eligible for a tax receipt?

YWCA Edmonton is a registered charity. Our charitable registration number is 10822 7935 RR0001. When you make an online donation, you’ll automatically receive a tax receipt at the email address you provide. Offline donations will be processed after the event, and tax receipts will be mailed out to the address specified.
